DNS Resolver

A server that performs recursive DNS lookups on behalf of client devices.

A DNS resolver (recursive resolver) is a server that receives DNS queries from client devices and performs the recursive lookup process to find the answer, querying root servers, TLD servers, and authoritative nameservers as needed. Popular public DNS resolvers include Cloudflare (1.1.1.1), Google (8.8.8.8), and OpenDNS (208.67.222.222). ISPs also operate their own resolvers. Resolver choice can affect DNS lookup speed.
