HNS (Handshake Name System)
The Handshake blockchain's native coin and naming system, used to bid on and own decentralized TLDs.
HNS refers to both the Handshake protocol's native cryptocurrency (HNS coins) and the overall Handshake naming system. HNS coins are used to bid on TLD names on the Handshake blockchain through a Vickrey auction system. Once a TLD is won, the owner can create second-level domains and build their own naming system. Handshake aims to eliminate the need for certificate authorities and the ICANN-controlled root zone.
