Premium Renewal

When a registry charges above-standard renewal fees on domains classified as premium — an ongoing cost to watch.

Some domain registries charge elevated annual renewal fees for domains classified as "premium" — even after initial registration. This means a domain that cost $500 to register might cost $500+ every year to renew. Premium renewals are common on new gTLDs and some ccTLDs. Investors must check renewal pricing before acquiring premium-priced domains to avoid unexpected holding costs eroding their returns.
