Cybersquatting

Registering a trademarked domain name in bad faith to profit from someone else's brand.

Cybersquatting is the bad-faith registration of a domain name that includes a trademark or brand name with the intent to profit from it — typically by selling it back to the trademark owner at an inflated price or using it to divert traffic. It is prohibited under the UDRP and the US Anti-Cybersquatting Consumer Protection Act (ACPA). Domain investing is legal; cybersquatting requires proving bad-faith intent to exploit a trademark.
