Gas Fee

The Ethereum transaction cost paid to register, transfer, or update an ENS domain — fluctuates with network demand.

A gas fee is the transaction cost paid to Ethereum network validators for processing operations on the blockchain. All ENS domain registrations, renewals, and transfers require gas fees paid in ETH. Gas fees fluctuate based on network congestion — they can range from a few dollars during quiet periods to hundreds of dollars during peak activity. High gas fees are a barrier to mass adoption of Ethereum-based Web3 domains.
