Second-Level Domain (SLD)
The main part of a domain name — the "example" in "example.com."
The second-level domain (SLD) is the portion of a domain name directly to the left of the TLD. In "domainglossary.com," "domainglossary" is the SLD. The SLD is what registrants choose and pay to register. In some ccTLDs like .co.uk, there is a third-level domain (the "co" part is a second-level domain, and the registrant controls the third level).
