Domain Expiration

When a domain's registration period ends and it becomes available for re-registration.

A domain expires when its registration period ends and the owner has not renewed it. Most registrars offer a grace period (typically 30–45 days) during which the owner can still renew at standard cost, followed by a redemption period (up to 30 days) with a redemption fee, and finally the domain is deleted and released for registration. Expired domains with traffic or backlinks are valuable targets for domain investors.
